Day 26 – Job 19:25–27

“I know that my Redeemer lives,
and that in the end He will stand upon the earth.
And after my skin has been destroyed,
yet in my flesh I will see God;
I myself will see Him with my own eyes
I and not another.
How my heart yearns within me!”

The power that I was once afraid of, I am longing to see when Jesus returns. That masculine, warrior-like display of energy and conquering that I used to be so threated by, I am praying for on behalf of the innocent and victimized. And that sweet talk in the cool of the evening with the God who cherishes me—oh, I wish it were now!

When the heathen rage against God and make violence upon the earth, my Redeemer will be standing. When the earth quakes, the seas roar, and the mountains shake, my Redeemer will still be standing. When all the earth melts away at the sound of His voice and the skies roll up on themselves like a scroll, my Redeemer will still be standing.

Dear Believer, do you long to see God? Well, hold on, because before long, you will. When we stand in the light of His overwhelming, brilliant presence, we will wonder why we didn’t trust Him more. With all His power displayed before us, will we be embarrassed that we didn’t ask Him for help more often? Will we see His unquenchable, fiery light and wonder why we held onto our dark places as long as we did? When we feel His strong love radiating from His heart to ours in waves of shining energy, will we weep for the times we believed He didn’t care about us?

Our Deliverer is coming. Our Rescuer is coming. All the agonies and injustices of this world will be swallowed up in the imminent, powerful, blinding-light return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Our Redeemer lives. He is not dead. He cannot be killed. No one can take His place. No one is stronger than He is. No one will ever attack Him and overcome Him. Nothing will keep Him from doing what He said He will do. He has an appointment to keep with us, and He will not fail. He will be the last man standing!

How my heart years within me to see that day! Come, Redeemer, come!
