Hosea by Jennifer Rothchild
Leader: Debby Donoghue
Days: Thursdays for seven weeks, February 18–March 31
Place: Joy Room at the church building
The Old Testament book of Hosea is “a story about an unlikely couple; an unusual marriage, a man in love, and an illicit affair. The story of Hosea and his wife will shock you and warm your heart. The story of Israel and God in the book of Hosea will frustrate you and then fill you with hope.” Childcare is available on request ($2 per child).
Life Group for Women
Leader: Devin McCarty
Days: Wednesdays for seven weeks, February 17–May 11
Place: The church building
There will be a short Bible devotional. Our focus will be on connecting and growing our relationships by sharing our joys and struggles.
Leader: Matt Crosby
Days: Wednesdays, six to eight weeks starting February 17
Place: The church gym
This small group will be based on “The Truth and Islam” class at Summit Theological Seminary. “Islam has been a growing and alarming feature in the news. What exactly do they teach? Isn’t Allah just another name for the same God we serve? What does the Koran actually teach? Is Islam a peaceful or violent religion? How do we talk to a Muslim about Jesus?” Come find answers to these and other questions!
Facing Your Giants by Max Lucado
Leader: Cindy Smith
Days: Mondays for seven weeks, February 15–March 28
Place: The Smith home
“If the ‘giants’ in your life seem overwhelming and neverending, this is the study for you! We will be looking at ‘hitting them right between the eyes’ like David did with God’s Word and promises!” No materials are needed for the first meeting. There is room for 10-15 people.
Who is God by Francis Chan
Leader: Scott Carpenter
Days: Thursdays beginning February 18
Place: The Carpenter home
Cost: $8 for the study guide
“We say we love God. We say we follow Him. We say His spirit is with us. Do we mean it? Do we even know what our lives should look like if we do?” Come and find out. This group will be video- and study-guide-based. There is room for 10 people; childcare is not available.
Ready or Not, Here He Comes (Adjusting to and Helping a New Minister Succeed)
Leader: Gary Carpenter
Days: Thursdays for five weeks, March 3–March 31
Place: The church building
This small group will center on Biblical, practical instruction and discussion. “Ready or not, we are looking at a big transition. The best thing for the church is for the new minister to succeed! Forty years in the ministry uniquely qualifies Gary to offer important insights into how we can make that happen!” If needed, childcare will be arranged.
Weird by Craig Groeshel
Leaders: Jason and Annie Double
Days: Mondays (2/15-3/21) at 6:30 p.m.
Normal just isn’t working. Normal people are stressed, overwhelmed, and exhausted. Many of their relationships are at best strained and in most cases just surviving. Even though we live in one of the most prosperous places on earth, normal is still living paycheck to paycheck and never getting ahead. When it comes to God, the majority believe in Him, but the teachings of Scripture rarely make it into their everyday lives. Simply put, normal isn’t working. In this six-session study, Groeschel’s WEIRD views will help you break free from the norm to lead a radically abnormal (and endlessly more fulfilling) life.
