“… March on, my soul; be strong!”
Deborah and Barak, Judges 5:21
For twenty years, Canaan had its jackboot on Israel’s throat. When they cried to God for help, He answered and hand-picked Deborah, “a mother in Israel,” to judge His chosen people.
With the help of God and Jael, a woman with MacGyver-like ingenuity, Israel routed Canaan and the land had peace for forty years.
To celebrate, Deborah and Barak sang a victory song. Imagine what it sounded like as they belted it out in the original Hebrew!
