“I am who I am…”

“I wish it need not have happened in my time,” said Frodo.
J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring
“So do I,” said Gandalf, “and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”
A recent article by Larry Alex Taunton over at The American Spectator is well worth reading:
“If abortion, infanticide, violence in our streets, election-rigging, and the evils of Marxism aren’t enough to rouse some churches, for what purpose do they exist?“
Larry Alex Taunton
Mr. Taunton does a superb job of showing how the Religion of Wokeness has invaded the ministries of influential leaders like Tim Keller and John Piper.
It’s reminiscent of what the prophet Isaiah wrote:
10“Israel’s watchmen are blind,
Isaiah 56:10–11, NIV 1984
they all lack knowledge;
they are all mute dogs,
they cannot bark;
they lie around and dream,
they love to sleep.
11They are dogs with mighty appetites;
they never have enough.
They are shepherds who lack understanding;
they all turn to their own way
each seeks his own gain.”
At some point it’s less about your target’s despicability and more about your own vindictiveness.
Context:
“John Wycliffe died of his stroke on the last day of the year. The religious authorities had never excommunicated him because they feared public opinion–the people loved John and his fame was international. So he was buried in consecrated soil. But about thirty years later, the Council of Constance revenged itself on his criticism by condemning his teachings and ordering his bones to be dug up and burned.
“But the burning of such a man’s bones could not end his influence. As John Foxe said in his book of martyrs, ‘though they dug up his body, burnt his bones, and drowned his ashes, yet the Word of God and the truth of his doctrine, with the fruit and success thereof, they could not burn; which yet to this day…doth remain.'”

WASHINGTON, D.C. — This morning, U.S. Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz appeared on the House floor with a mask that read, “I TAKE CARE OF YOU.”
This brings to mind a quote from George Orwell:
“No one believes more firmly than Comrade Napoleon that all animals are equal. He would be only too happy to let you make your decisions for yourselves. But sometimes you might make the wrong decisions, comrades, and then where should we be?”

“Even youths grow tired and weary,
Isaiah 40:30-31, NIV 1984
and young men stumble and fall;
but those who hope in the LORD
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.”

“Canadian police stormed an ‘illegal gathering of six people’ in a Gatineau home after a neighbor ratted them out. The residents resisted. Six police – the same number as were gathered in the home – arrived at the door and attempted to break up this nefarious gathering.”

“When did ‘helper’ become a negative word? …
“God made women to specifically strengthen and encourage their husbands, strengthen and encourage men, in a way [a] man could never [do]. And that’s so stinkin’ special. Adam didn’t need someone exactly like himself…
“We need to trust that God’s word is so beautiful and so, so right for our lives. It’s about believing that God made man and woman for a specific purpose, and that their purposes, although they may not be the same, they’re both so equally important to God and to His kingdom…
“We as daughters and sons of the King should be moving toward the same goal, of glorifying God in our bodies. 1 Corinthians 10:31. Whatever we’re doing, give the glory to God.”
